VPHCS turns over classroom to Loon LGU

The barangay of Nueva Vida in Loon, Bohol has a new classroom through the efforts of the VPHCS and the local people’s organization as a project of the People’s Solidarity.

The Panaghugpong sa mga Mag-uuma ug Mananagat sa Loon (PAMMALO or United Farmers and Fisherfolks in Loon) had requested the VPHCS for a school building in Barangay Nueva Vida Elementary School following the destruction of the classrooms in the barangay during the 7.2 earthquake last Oct. 15. The VPHCS then requested the support of Task Force Carabao – Germany which is a group of German individuals who has long contributed funds to support health projects of the VPHCS in Bohol, the last of which was a medical mission for children in Nueva Vida in 2013.

The classroom now houses the Grade 1 and 2 classes.

Rev. Floro Hora blesses  the newly constructed school building.

After the construction of the classroom which now accommodates the Grade 1 and 2 classes, a turn-over ceremony of the building to the local government unit was held last June 29, 2014.

The turn-over of the symbolic key of responsibility started from VPHCSI Executive Director Dr. Petty O. de Castro, VPHCSI-Bohol Project Coordinator Dr. Grace C. Molina and Mrs. Olympia S. Maldos, Chairperson of Panaghugpong sa Mag-uuma ug Mangingisda sa Loon (PAMMALO), to Provincial Board Member Hon. Ceasar Tomas M. Lopez who is the Chairman Committee on Education, to Mayor Lloyd Peter M. Lopez and Councilor Lydia Almasa, to Ms. Zelda Lungat, representative from Department of Education at the same time the coordinating principal of Loon North, to Barangay Captain Rey Cano, to Mr. Romualdo Pedrablanca who is the president of the Parents Teachers Community Association and lastly to Mrs. Rosalina Salomon who is the head teacher of Nueva Vida Elementary School.

The school room project gained much appreciation from the local government unit as well as from the teachers and parents. They were so happy to receive it and promised to take good care of it.
