Operation tuli missions conducted

Nearly 500 boys were circumcised by staff and volunteers of the Visayas Primary Health Care Services, Inc. (VPHCS) and other groups in three separate operation tuli missions this April.

The first operation tuli was held in Poblacion Baclayon, Bohol on April 22, sponsored by the VPHCS, the local government unit of the Municipality of Baclayon, the Students Alliance for Community Health Services (SACHS) in Bohol, and the Kabataan Party List. More than 180 boys from Baclayon availed of the services.

The second operation tuli was held in Barangay Bolinawan, Carcar City on April 24, held in coordination with the Total Outreach for Community Health (TORCH) of the Cebu Institute of Medicine (CIM), the Cebu Relief and Rehabilitation Center, Inc. (CRRC) and the local government unit of Carcar City. About 220 boys from Barangays Valencia, Buenavista , Calidngan and Bolinawan were circumcised by students and alumni of the CIM who are members of the TORCH.

The third operation tuli was held in the rural barangay of Mahagbu in the Municipality of Trinidad, Bohol on April 26. Youth from Trinidad together with staff members of the VPHCS served more than 60 boys. Blood sugar testing was also done.

  2. From a modern western point of view, circumcision of boys in the sense of tuli is nothing but the mutilation of genitals of human beings who can't speak for themselves due to their young age! All the same whether you are cut or uncut yourself, just imagine your were forced to have a painful and bloody surgery performed at your genitals. Would you really like this idea? And what would you think if you found out later on that it has been a useless procedure, which caused so much fear and pain to you?

Being performed as a mass gathering maybe makes it easier for the boys, maybe also the fact that they know that their fathers and brothers have gone through this as well. But does this really sanctify the act itself?

It is NOT unnormal to be uncut, nor is it unhealthy or unhygienic. It's just NATURAL!!!
Despite the fact that circumcision of young boys is still very common in some parts of the world, about 80 percent of all men worldwide are uncut, including by far most men who are living in Europe, Russia, and China! Isn't this proof enough that circumcision is at all unnecessary!? In the US, circumcision rates have fortunately been decreasing for years now. Why? Because they have just begun to realize what they where doing to those boys!

Circumcision comes by the cost of rare but severe risks, including infections, and other serious side effects. Even if performed under best surgical conditions, around the world boys have been dying due complications of their circumcisions. And their number is rising day by day.

Stop pretending to provide a health service when doing harm to little children, cutting away sensitive parts of their genitals! See their faces while it is done!

Stop this barbaric and unnecessary tuli procedure! Now.

  3. Despite the fact that circumcision of young boys is still common in some cultures, about 80 percent of all men world-wide remain uncut for their whole life, including most men who live in South America, Western Europe, Russia, and China. Most of them are happy with their penisses being left naturally, and most of them never experience any problems with their uncircumcised penisses. Assuming that this is sufficient evidence that circumcision is not a general need or requirement for a healthy and happy life, how can we justify routinal circumcision?

It does not matter whether you are female or male, cut or uncut yourself. Just imagine to have a painful and bloody surgery performed on your genitals. What do you feel? And what would you feel if lateron you found out that it had been an unnecessary procedure that caused fear and pain for you, leaving your genitals irreversibly modified?

In the US, circumcision rates were quite high in the last century, but are dropping for years now. Do you know why?

To circumcise a young boy means to cut away sensitive parts of the genitals of a human being who can't really understand the consequences of what is going on due to his minor age. He just might have been told that "every boy gets it done" and that he should "act like a real man". Did you ever try to circumcise "a real man" who did not see a reason to have this procedure performed? Can you imagine how he would really act? How would you act if you were this man?

Circumcision is NOT a harmless routinal prophylaxis. It is the amputation of a nerved (hence sensitive) and blood-supplied part of the male genitals. Do you agree that slicing away parts of the ears of a child is not a legal procedure unless medically required? So why should it be a legitimate procedure to cut away a part of a child's penis (which is definitely not medically required for most boys)?

I am sure that you thought you were providing a useful health service when joining "operation tuli". Do you still think so? If yes, what do you say to a boy asking why you do this? Would your answer satisfy him if he was the next boy whose genitals were going to be modified on your table?

Don't just believe me or anyone else. Inform yourself.

  5. Very good job! The male circumcision must become mandatory around the world, especially because the most of women prefer a circumcised penis.
